A Guide to Choosing Your Wedding Veil

When it comes to choosing your wedding veil there are two very important things to consider.

First and foremost, think about your wedding dress. The style, the length and whether or not you are having a train. All of these will make a big difference to the type of veil that will complement your overall look.

Secondly, consider your wedding day hairstyle. Your veil needs to be attached securely whether you are wearing your hair up or down.

I would advise that you arrange a trial run with your hairdresser well in advance of your wedding day. Take along your choice of veil along with the hair accessories you are planning to wear on the day.

Longer Wedding Veils

Longer veils are currently on trend in 2022, here are examples of the three standard full-length veils!

Longer veils tend to be named after wedding ceremonial venues. For example, “Chapel length” and “Cathedral length”. The bigger the church, the bigger the veil!

Shorter Wedding Veils

Shorter veils are usually named for where (approximately) on the body the veil will fall.

For example “Shoulder length”, “Elbow length” etc..

 

Shoulder Length

This is the shortest of wedding veil lengths, falling softly around the shoulders – a nod to tradition without overpowering your overall look.

This sweet short length veil can look very good with tea length wedding dresses.

 

 

Elbow Length

This is a great option if you are looking for a shorter veil. It will look especially good with a 1950’s /60’s vintage dress!

 

 

Fingertip Length

A great option for many brides, it is long enough to look flowing and elegant. It should end approximately at the fingertips, depending of course on the bride’s height.
