Alternatives to White

Not every bride wants to wear white. Maybe it isn’t your colour, or this isn’t your first wedding, or maybe it isn’t your style. Whatever the reason, there are lots of choices for brides-to-be who want something a little different from the traditional.

For something stunning and romantic, Helena by Catherine Deane has everything. Ivory baroque style lace over an almond lining, it’s delicate, feminine and obviously a wedding dress even though it’s in a softer palette than brilliant white.

From the Cosmobella range, this dress is timelessly romantic. With an illusion neckline and a sheer back, the lace detail is coloured in contrast with the skirt giving an ethereal appearance.

Anastasia by Maggie Sottero is a strapless princess ball gown which comes in ivory or ivory over blush and the shimmering horsehair in the tiered tulle skirt adds a subtle extra colour detail.

This example by Catherine Deane is a separate skirt and top. This means you can have ivory on the top with a white skirt or nude and ivory. With separates, you have the ultimate freedom to express yourself.

Allen by Sottero and Midgley is a vintage ballgown with a sheer bodice of Swarovski crystals and beading. This dress comes in diamond white, pewter and ivory combinations, but the one pictured is soft nude over blush/rose/gold accent for some Hollywood glamour.

For her new range, Charlie Brear has released the much-loved Chartres re-imagined in gold. Chic, elegant lines with a halter neck, this is a very modern style which can be embellished with a sash or unlined skirt addition.

Another bold idea is to use black to accentuate your dress. You could use something simple like this A-Line gown from Justin Alexander with a black sash belt for maximum impact.

Tristyn by Maggie Sottero uses black lace detail over a princess style ball gown for a delicate, feminine look. It’s dramatic and bold, but unmistakably bridal. The woodland setting at Capesthorne Hall would be a magical setting for your wedding to show off such a stunning gown.
