Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Dress
Choosing the dress of your dreams can be the highlight of planning your wedding, to avoid it becoming stressful, there are a few simple rules you can follow.
Set Your Budget
This is crucial, work out what you can afford to spend before you start looking. The last thing you want is to find your dream dress and then realise it is unaffordable.
Remember too that your dress isn’t the only item to budget for. You will need to add in the cost of a headdress and/or veil, underwear, shoes and jewellery.
Consider Your Personal Style
When deciding on your dress, stay true to yourself – think about styles that will fit your body shape, and make you feel confident.
If you tend to prefer floaty style dresses, go with that style as opposed to tight fitting dresses, as you will only feel uncomfortable in them.
It’s best to start looking as soon as you can, in case you decide to have one custom made, or the one you choose may need to be altered to fit.
Choose Who To Take Along
Don’t be tempted to take too many people with you, take those closest to you who know you well, perhaps your Mother and best friend/ Bridesmaid. Think of the people who are really close to you that you trust to give you their honest opinion.
Some wedding shops aren’t big enough to allow for a large group of visitors.
Wear The Right Underwear
It’s worth investing in some seam free supportive underwear before you head off to try on dresses.
This will help you to see how the dress will look on your wedding day, and can make all the difference to how the dresses fit you.
Don’t Try Too Many Dresses
Choose a shortlist of dresses to try on in each boutique.
If you try on countless dresses you may just end up becoming confused and find it even harder to decide.
Pick the ones you are attracted to initially, but also remember that an experienced shop owner will be able to advise on what she thinks will look good on you.
Try on at least one that she recommends as you may be surprised how different you may feel about it once you see yourself in it!
You have fallen in love with a dress, but take your time to consider your decision. A good boutique will allow you to reserve the dress for a few days to give you time to be absolutely sure before you spend your money.
Once you have decided on the perfect gown stop looking at other dresses, trust in your decision and take ‘The Dress’ off your shopping list!
