Christmassy Drinks for Your Wedding
If you’re having your wedding over the festive period, then match your drinks to the season for an extra sparkle on your big day. Warm and traditional, or decadent and creamy, this collection of Christmassy drinks and cocktails are guaranteed to please your guests.
Mulled Wine
Is there anything more Christmassy than mulled wine? I don’t think so. Just the smell of it heating through is enough to get me in the festive mood. Plus, as it is a warm drink, it’ll keep you guests warm on those cooler days.
You can buy bottles of premixed mulled wine, or you can make it yourself. Simply add 1 orange, halved and sliced, 5 cloves, a cinnamon stick, 2 star anise, 3 slices of ginger and 200g of caster sugar to 1 bottle of red wine and heat through for 15 minutes without letting it boil. Ass 150 ml of rum, amaretto or schnapps and serve.
Yes, you read that right, mulled gin. It needs a bit of preparation, but it will be totally worth it. You mix all the usual Christmas flavours, a cinnamon stick, allspice berries, star anise, ginger, a clementine spiked with cloves and fresh cranberries, in a litre of cloudy apple juice. Bring to the boil, then take of the heat and allow to infuse for an hour. Then it’s ready to mix with your gin and tonic.Snowflake Martini
I loved the sound of this cocktail, so much I tried it for myself and now its my must-have drink for the season. Combine 3oz. of white chocolate liqueur with 2oz of vanilla vodka and 2 tbsp of heavy cream in a cocktail shaker with ice. Serve in a glass with white sugar around the rim for something extra special.
You can get salted caramel Irish Cream from the supermarkets now to add a little something different to your drinks. Combining a shot of this with a short of Amaretto and 3 shots of half and half (milk and cream) you can have a White Russian to remember on a day to remember.
By drizzling salted caramel sauce around the glass before pouring the drink into it, you can create a playful pattern to wow your guests.
Hot Chocolate
And for the younger guests, or those who don’t want alcohol then a hot chocolate with all the trimmings is a decadent drink for any celebration.
Make it really special by serving cups of hot milk with chocolate melting blocks which will combine for a rich chocolatey drink. The addition of cream and marshmallows will have everyone queuing up for a cup.
