DIY Wedding Ideas

DIY weddings are on the rise as a response to the continuing inflation of rates within the wedding industry. But D0-It-Yourself projects aren’t just for the budget conscious, nor just or the creative spirits, but are a perfect way of bringing people together and making the run up to your wedding super fun and memorable.

Leave plenty of time in advance to try and test these ideas, to avoid the process becoming too stressful!

Here are five of our favourite DIY wedding projects that can give the WOW factor to your wedding day…

Tissue Paper Pom Poms

Not just for kids parties, tissue paper pom-pom garlands have an utterly magical effect when hanging from the ceiling. We say “more is more” in this respect – i.e. make too many pom-poms rather than too little. Try integrating them with other objects for a really quirky effect.

 Wax Paper Backdrop

This is a really unusual but strangely effective one. It’s also slightly more tasking than your average DIY project, so do allow yourself plenty of room for mistakes at first. We love Style Me Pretty’s tutorial and photoshoot on how to make a stunning wedding back drop.

 Tassel Garlands

Another party favourite, tassel garlands have a Spanish Fiesta feel about them. They work beautifully as a singular table display feature, or strung from the rafters.

 Floral Wreath

Why assign someone else to do this when you can do it yourself? Floral wreaths can be kept minimalist and multiplied a few times over make wonderful hanging displays, or make them full and flamboyant and just make one a main feature.

 Gilded Leaf Place-cards

This is a really unique and personal DIY wedding project. Although it is fiddly and may involve a number of attempts first. Start collecting your leaves and either brave the leaf calligraphy or create paper name tags for your gilded creations.
