Wedding Traditions – Something Blue

Following on from our recent blog on the “Something Old Something New” tradition, we are looking at “Something Blue” which represents purity, love and fidelity.

Here are some ideas to incorporate this into your wedding day.

Garter

A wedding garter is the most traditional way of incorporating blue into your wedding outfit.

Originally the garter would be removed by the groom and thrown to the wedding guests in the same way that the bride would throw her bouquet.

Jewellery

A lovely way to bring blue to your wedding is to wear some beautiful jewellery, a necklace or ring made from sapphire or aquamarine would be perfect. You may wish to borrow some jewellery from your mother or a close family member.

Bouquet

You could add a touch of blue into your wedding bouquet, even if your main flowers are a different colour.

Speak to your florist who will be able to advise you. A nice finishing touch would be to have a blue ribbon or a blue charm tied to the bouquet handle.

A Personalised Wedding Dress Label

Having a hand sewn label stitched inside your wedding dress is a unique idea to personalise it. I love this idea!

A Handkerchief

A handkerchief embroidered in blue, to be carried with you and kept as a token of your special day.

Wedding Pouch

A personalised bag or pouch, containing essential items you may need throughout the day, such as your powder and lipstick.

Keep it to hand by asking one of your bridesmaids to look after it for you.

Bridesmaids Dresses

You may have decided that your bridesmaids will be wearing blue dresses, if so you have it already covered.
